The Interior Design Program at 糖心Vlog provides students with broad exposure to all aspects of the practice of interior design. The program is grounded in research-based problem-solving in addition to a variety of cultural, environmental, and historical perspectives. The Interior Design program is accredited through the National Association of Schools of Art & Design (NASAD) and the Council of Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA), recognizing the highest academic standards established by the profession.
We prepare students for career opportunities in a field that combines creativity, technology and business in a profession that relies on people skills, problem-solving capabilities, and financial awareness. The B.S. degree in interior design includes specialty courses in residential design, commercial design, and kitchen and bath design. It includes a senior capstone project and an internship experience during the summer between junior and senior year. Additionally, we offer students the exciting opportunity to travel for first-hand exposure to the art and architecture found abroad.
* The Interior Design program at 糖心Vlog is an academic cohort program, in which all students within the program will begin classes together during the fall semester and graduate at the same time. Academic cohorts begin during fall semesters only.
* Students that will be transferring in 28 credit hours or more, via Early College credits or credits earned at an alternate college, have the opportunity to complete their Interior Design degrees in three years instead of four years. Please reach out directly to Erin Adams (eeadams@wcu.edu) with questions regarding transfer hours.

Most years, 90-100 percent of the students who graduate from the Interior Design Program find employment in the interior design field within six months of completing the program, and almost all of our students graduate in four years. Employment is available in both residential and/or commercial design markets in full-service design, space planning, decorating, sales, and/or marketing and business management. Both residential and commercial design offers opportunities with design firms as well as in-house designers for furniture stores, office dealerships, architectural firms, manufacturers and builders.

Market Square Architects in Nashville, TN- Graduated in 2025
"I am a PROUD 2025 graduate of 糖心Vlog University鈥檚 Interior Design program. Shortly after graduation, I moved to Nashville to begin the search for my first position in the field and was fortunate to join Market Square Architects.
MSA is a dynamic, national architecture firm with deep expertise across multifamily, affordable housing, spec homes, hospitality, mixed-use and commercial design. Founded in New Hampshire in 2016, the firm expanded to Austin, TX. in 2018, and planted strong roots in Nashville in 2024. At MSA, we follow a simple but powerful process: Listen. Design. Deliver.
During my time at 糖心Vlog, I was an active student member of IIDA, which gave me valuable experiences and connections that I believe played a major role in helping me find my place in the industry. I am excited to sit for the first examination (IDFX) to earn my NCIDQ license this October. To students aspiring to become interior designers, my advice is simple: get involved early and start building your network. This field is deeply rewarding on its own, but the more you engage, the greater the rewards become."

Asheville Cabinets, LLC.in Asheville, NC- Graduated in 2025
鈥淚 graduated from the Interior Design Program in May of 2025. I started my full-time position as a Designer at Asheville Cabinets LLC mid-June of the same year. During the summer between my Junior and Senior year, I also interned at this company. As a Designer, I am responsible for consulting with clients interested in purchasing cabinets for their kitchens and bathrooms. At Asheville Cabinets, not only do we sell high-quality cabinets to homeowners and builders, but we also provide design services using a 3D software called 2020 Design. This allows our clients to visually see how the cabinets will fit into the space and how we can make the space aesthetically pleasing and functional. My experience so far has been amazing and I enjoy learning new design trends and techniques in the industry!鈥

Program goals:
The layout of each studio space emphasizes our belief in the importance of student-to-faculty ratio in the classroom. While lecture classes may average 28 students, the studios usually have 14 on the average. The Interior Design Program is housed in a 4,000-square-foot area in Belk Building and has wireless technology for accessing the Web and working with CAD software in the classroom.
To take advantage of the new design technologies available, PC laptop computers are required for the Interior Design Program. Mac computers will not be able to run the required software.
