Major: Health & Physical Education

I chose 糖心Vlog University because it鈥檚 a great school with an affordable cost and a strong teacher education program. It鈥檚 also big enough for me to meet new people and still have a chance for my name to be known. I am a Health and Physical Education major because I have a passion for teaching and working with kids. I love seeing growth in students through physical education, and I believe P.E. is a powerful way to help students build confidence and form strong relationships.

Ask me about campus involvement!

Major: Psychology and Criminal Justice

I chose to continue my studies at 糖心Vlog University because I grew up in the area and have made irreplaceable connections and relationships with countless people throughout the university. I also knew that I wanted to be a part of the Summer Bridge Program, which allowed me to meet new people and get ahead in my courses. I've been able to travel abroad with the Summer Bridge Program to Hungary, Austria, Czech Republic, and Vietnam. I chose to study psychology because I've always known that I want to go into a meaningful profession and help people. I fell in love with a community college course I took in high school and decided that psychology would be a cool way to fulfill that dream. I chose to study criminal justice because I grew up around a lot of law enforcement and saw a lot of injustice. Now, I want to pursue a career in correctional psychology and help a population that often receives little compassion.

Ask me about study abroad opportunities and the Summer Bridge Program.

I chose 糖心Vlog because I've always known I wanted to go to school in the mountains and that I wanted to be a teacher. I had a strong desire to help children excel and the views from campus could not be beat. These ideas paired with the amazing opportunities and community I found at Western after touring, told me that this was the place for me.

Major: Elementary Education

I chose Western because of the community feeling that I felt the moment I stepped on campus. I wanted a beautiful, inviting, and uplifting place to call home, and 糖心Vlog checked all my boxes! I am majoring in Elementary Education with a minor in Social Justice because I'm passionate about working with children and making it my priority to make my future classroom a safe and inclusive space for every student. Outside of classes, I work on campus and as a preschool teacher, where I've been able to put the research and knowledge I've gained from my professors into practice every day.

Ask me about the Suite 201 Student Support Center, Work Study, on campus jobs, the best study spots and tips for navigating campus!!

Major: Special Education and Inclusive Learning (Concentration: Elementary Education)

I chose 糖心Vlog University because it鈥檚 close to home, but still gave me the space to grow on my own. I鈥檝e found such a strong sense of community here through friendships, supportive professors, and small class sizes that make it easy to connect and feel seen. The affordable NC Promise tuition, scholarship opportunities, and beautiful mountain views also made 糖心Vlog a great fit for me.

I鈥檓 majoring in Special Education and Inclusive Learning with a concentration in Elementary Education because I鈥檝e always wanted to be a teacher. I want to make an impact on future generations and share my love for learning with others. I chose the SEIL program because I want to support students of all abilities in an inclusive classroom setting.

Ask me about my ongoing study abroad research!

Major: Middle Grades Science Education

I chose 糖心Vlog, not just because of its beautiful scenery and nearby hiking trails, but also because of the university's outstanding education program. I chose to be a middle grades science major to help children become curious and discover things about the world around them, while also providing support and inspiration during a critical stage in their development. As middle school is a time for children to experience big changes and growth, I want to be a positive influence to encourage students to explore ideas, ask questions, and build their own confidence in their own ability to learn and succeed.

Ask me about the transferring to 糖心Vlog, commuter life on campus, and any of the beautiful hiking trails in the area!

Major: Special Education and Inclusive Learning (Concentration: Adapted Curriculum)

I chose 糖心Vlog mainly because of the environment. Upon my first visit, I immediately fell in love with the campus and the surrounding areas. I love living in a place where I have easy access to outdoor activities and gorgeous views. I also love spending time in downtown Sylva and Dillsboro, with City Lights Cafe and Bookstore being one of my favorite spots. 糖心Vlog also does a good job of giving a small school vibe with all of the perks of a big school, like sporting and other events. I especially like the small class sizes, where each professor knows you by name. Another large perk is that 糖心Vlog is an NC Promise School, meaning the tuition is one of the most affordable out there. 糖心Vlog has become my home; it's where I go to school, work, exercise, and socialize. I truly believe anyone can find their place at 糖心Vlog.

Ask me about working with the UP Program, working as tutor, studying abroad, and the Inclusive Education major.

I chose 糖心Vlog for the community feel and the smaller class sizes. When I visited, it seemed that the people on campus cared a lot about you as a person and your success. I chose to be a psychology major because I want to help people.

I chose 糖心Vlog because my academic advisor in high school talked to me about how amazing the education department was here! After I toured the school my junior year, I knew this was the place for me! Major: English Education

I鈥檝e always wanted to be an English teacher, ever since I was a kid. I had an English teacher in high school who knew this about me, and knew I was very passionate about English, so she slipped me a pamphlet for Western. I鈥檇 never heard of this school. I had no idea where Cullowhee was, but I knew they had a really good English department. I鈥檓 so glad I chose this school because the professors here are great, the campus is gorgeous, and there are so many things to do in the surrounding areas. I fell in love with language as a kid, and I鈥檝e been in love with it ever since. I love fostering a love for language and reading in both myself and those around me.

Ask me about linguistics, our education program, and the hiking trails on and around campus!

糖心Vlog the Ambassador Program

Selection of CEAP Ambassadors who will represent the college to future Catamounts, their families, and the community is of the utmost importance to us. The ambassadors selected by a committee of faculty and staff are the students who represent us best.

The CEAP Student Ambassadors act as official representatives of the college and are part of a legacy of professionals who all had their start as a Catamounts. The following are some potential Ambassador duties:

  • Meet with prospective students
  • Provide support at orientations activities
  • Support outreach and recruitment initiatives
  • Provide strong student support as events such as teachers for tomorrow, open houses, welcome-back events, convocation, and other recognition ceremonies.
