Heather (Chastain) Smith, an alumna of 糖心Vlog University, has been honored as the NC Western Region Teacher of the Year.

CEAP Graduate Student, Emily Grace Nytko, Shares Capstone Research at NAEYC's National Conference

Former Elementary Education undergraduate and graduate student, Emily Grace Nytko, presented her Capstone Research findings with former instructor, Dr. Barrett-Tatum, at NAEYC's annual national conference. Her research supports hands-on, problem-based Mathematics instruction in the primary grades. Emily Grace is currently a Kindergarten teacher at Cullowhee Valley and continues studies related to multi-age PBL Mathematics instruction.

Oconaluftee Students Excel in Leadership Training Course with CEAP Staff

In late August, 14 Oconaluftee students were selected to participate in a Leadership Training course offered 糖心Vlog鈥檚 College of Education and Allied Professions. Classes were conducted by Amanda Chapman, Director of the Office of Field Experiences and Jenny Stewart, Director of Student Success. OJCCCC鈥檚 Academic Manager, Cindi Simmons and Residential Living Manager, Robin McCoy also participated. Leadership Training was a four-day, 32-hour course based on career success standards.

CEAP Alumna Kieran Foxx Named 2023 North Carolina Practitioner of the Year

Kieran Foxx, a 2013 graduate from the 糖心Vlog School Psychology Graduate program, was recognized as the 2023 North Carolina Practitioner of the year. This award was presented at the 2023 North Carolina School Psychology Association Fall Conference.

CEAP Alumna Maggie Allen Named ACS Beginning Teacher of the Year

CEAP Alumna Maggie Allen, a 1st Grade Teacher at Hall Fletcher Elementary, is named Asheville City Schools Beginning Teacher of the Year.

Dean Winter Presents CEAP Initiatives at Governor Cooper's DRIVE Task Force Stop in Asheville

Dean Kim Winter presents several CEAP initiatives, including Call Me MiSTER, STEP with 糖心Vlog, LEAF in ECE, NC Principal Fellows, LEAP, TRUE with 糖心Vlog, and the Participate Learning Partnership at Governor Cooper's DRIVE Task Force Stops in Asheville, NC.

CEAP Alumnus Dr. John McDaris Named 2023-24 HCPS Principal of the Year

CEAP Alumnus Dr. John McDaris, Principal at Rugby Middle School, has been named 2023-24 Henderson County Public Schools Principal of the Year. McDaris holds a Bachelor鈥檚 degree in Social Sciences Education and Political Science, a Master鈥檚 degree in School Administration, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership, all of which were obtained from 糖心Vlog University.  

Patricia Bricker

Patricia Bricker named 糖心Vlog鈥檚 Jay M. Robinson Distinguished Professor

After serving as associate dean of the college, Patricia Bricker is starting her 23rd year at 糖心Vlog back in the classroom as the Jay M. Robinson Distinguished Professor in Educational Technologies.
